Sharon Givoni is invited to speak at the School of Design and Technologies on legal topics relating to graphic design, interior design and website design on the 30th of November 2016. Her seminar will enlighten students about: copyright and social media tips and traps, the test for copyright infringement, how to protect ideas, interior design terms and conditions and finally, some elements of website design including whether you can protect look and feel.

The seminar will also address the following questions:

  • How easy is it to break copyright and what are the ways to check if you are?
  • Is it ever okay to use works found on the internet or in books?
  • What is the main difference between copyright and trademarks?
  • Are there any examples you can discuss?

This essential (and fun) workshop is aimed at creatives, entrepreneurs and small business owners. Its about how to legally protect your best assets – your ideas! The seminar will cover how copyright is used to protect everything from products, to logos and even marketing material, before delving into some ‘grey-areas’ of copyright law such as street art and tattoo art. Naturally, the internet and social media will also be covered. In this interactive and engaging workshop Sharon will guide you through the proactive steps you need to take to prevent copying, how to make sure you own something (especially if you are use freelancers, interns or take an old idea and recycle it into something new) and practical steps you can take if you believe you have been copied. Sharon will aim to demystify copyright law though use of relevant case studies, useful tips and plenty of real life examples to bring this all to life. There will be some tasty treats as part of the talk as well...

In this half day workshop Sharon Givoni will be training representatives from major retail stores and packaging people on the legal requirements for packaging and labelling laws as well as general legal compliance and Intellectual property protection. This course will be thorough and give plenty of hands on real life examples presented in a meaningful and engaging manner. This session has been successfully run by the Australian Institute of Packaging over the course of a few years with excellent feedback.
